COPYCAT FRISCH’S BIG BOY FRESH STRAWBERRY PIE
traditional clean strawberry pie… in case you’ve in no way had it, you really need to try it!  This copycat model tastes just like the Frisch’s huge Boy or Shoneys treat, and is made first-rate smooth.  simply 6 common ingredients and an clean pre-made frozen pie crust… you may absolutely try this!


This pie… oh THIS pie.  You guys, I’m so excited to percentage this pie with you all today!!  right here in Cincinnati, Spring method  things… Reds baseball, and Frisch’s huge Boy might be serving strawberry pie quickly.  I literally wait all year for this pie to be to be had at Frisch’s… it’s an ideal use for the candy seasonal berries!


And don’t neglect the whipped cream!!  Of course, it’s optional, but I assume a dollop certainly tastes notable!
in case you’re analyzing this and going, “hi there guy, that’s a Shoney’s pie!”, I’m quite certain Shoney’s and Frisch’s massive Boy are owned by using the equal agency or some thing, because they’re menus are nearly equal (from what I’ve visible).  Frisch’s big Boy is just the nearby eating place around right here

INGREDIENTS :
  • 1 frozen pie crust (deep dish if you can find it)
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 Tbsp dry strawberry gelatin (like Jello - about 1/2 a 3 oz box)
  • 2 cups sliced strawberries (sliced in half or quarters, depending on size of berries)
  • whipped cream, for garnish (optional)


INSTRUCTIONS :
  1. Prick bottom and sides of frozen pie crust with fork, and bake according to package directions.  If you're worried about the crust puffing up, before baking, place a piece of parchment paper inside the crust and add about a cup of dried beans or rice.  Let cool.
  2. To a small sauce pan, add water, sugar, and cornstarch and whisk to combine.  Heat over MED heat until boiling, reduce heat a bit and simmer several minutes, until thickened.  
  3. Whisk in dry strawberry gelatin and set aside to cool, stirring occasionally.
  4. Wash and slice strawberries, then add to cooled pie crust.  Pour strawberry gelatin mixture over strawberries.  Refrigerate at least 4 hours, until set.
  5. Serve cold, with whipped cream if desired.
